It is the main precursor for ozone (O<sub>3<\/sub>), which is directly responsible for the &#8220;summer smog&#8221; in the urban atmosphere. In addition, NO<sub>2<\/sub> provides information on the acidification of the environment (&#8220;acid rain&#8221;) through oxidation in HNO<sub>3<\/sub>.<br \/>\nUrban NO<sub>2<\/sub> concentrations exceed the annual limit of approx. 200 \u00b5g\/m3 (EU Directive 2010). The reasons for this are still the subject of controversial debate.<br \/>\nDue to this main reason, NO<sub>2<\/sub> is regularly measured in national network stations.<br \/>\nHowever, the common commercial instruments show significant and known interferences.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Properties:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Very sensitive: detection limit 2 pptv (6 min. time resolution)<\/li>\n<li>Large application range: Measuring range 0.002-300 ppbv<\/li>\n<li>Air flow: 0.5 l\/min.<\/li>\n<li>Time resolution: 3-6 min. (depending on the measuring range)<\/li>\n<li>Accuracy: approx. \u00b1 (10% + DL)<\/li>\n<li>Precision: approx. \u00b1 (1% + DL)<\/li>\n<li>Interference: negligible for all investigated conductive gases<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Published literature:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Development of a new Long Path Absorption Photometer (LOPAP) Instrument for the Sensitive Detection of NO<sub>2<\/sub> in the Atmosphere, Atmos.
